The Weedy Rice Reporter App was created by the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) to facilitate the reporting of suspected weedy rice plants in California rice fields. The App records the suspected plant or patch of plants geographic location and the user can submit up to six pictures. The information will be accessible to UC farm advisors who will visit the site, identify the plants, and contact the user to confirm or rule out weedy rice. If weedy rice is confirmed, advise on management will be provided.
The information submitted though the App will only be viewed by UCCE personnel and will be used to gauge the spread of weedy rice in California. Any public reporting will be done without disclosing user’s identity or precise geographic location.
